Howdy,

well, I got another mini (the free trader) and thought I'd make a couple
comments.

The sculpt is pretty good (though the mold had some rips that I could see).
I've always liked the Beowolf design, and it is pretty true to it. The turrets
come as two additional pieces. The only real problems are related to the
casting job, which isn't as good as the PC (I cast stuff for a living, so I'm
a bit hyper-sensitive to this, I guess :)

My recurrent question is: What scale is it in? I know from Loren's post
that
they are not all in the same scale, but it would be nice to at least have the

scale printed on the package so my players won't ask "so how much bigger
would
the Patrol Cruiser really be?"

If I knew what alloy they were using getting the volume would be easy, but I
don't. I'm recasting it in a known resin to calculate the volume... I'll
post
the scale when I get it done. (I know I could displace water to do the same,
but
I'd rather have an extra to make into a wreak :)

BTW, does anyone have deck plans for the PC? What is the length on it really
supposed to be?

-Merrick

The starship weapons presented here are intended to be use with Brilliant Lances, and Traveller: =0D
The New Era. I have used Fire, Fusion & Steel, GDW's book about hardware design for the =0D
Traveller universe. This document will be updated as new weapons are being designed.=0D
=0D
There are several types of weapons in this documents. Some are not covered at this time, but will =0D
be. Since I started this document nearly 6 months ago I intended it to contain only lasers, but as I =0D
started to exchange ideas with others via the TML I found it necessary to include other types of =0D
weapons also. There are several philosofies covered in the designs presented below. The types of =0D
weapons covered are as following:=0D
		Grav focused Lasers=0D
		Non-grav focused Lasers (x-ray)=0D
Point defence Lasers, Non-grav focused (x-ray)=0D
		Meson Guns=0D
Particle Accelerators (not included this time)=0D

The un-manned turrets and barbettes require MFD's if installed. These turrets and barbettes are =0D
recomended to be installed on larger starships (2000tons or more) to save in on the crew count. =0D
The Turrets should then be combined into batteries, with one MFD per battery.=0D

The point defence laser above has a rate of fire of 800 shots per turn, and got 3 lasers in one =0D

Note1: This missile are intended to deliver multiple warheads against a world. The missile can =0D
be launched in deep space and given course to the target planet. The sensor in the nose is used to =0D
confirm vector by taking positioning of planets and stars. When the missile has reached the =0D
planet the warheads are released and falling free towards the world. The warheads have sensors =0D
that can find their targets given from intelligence data. Usually they use imaging radars. The =0D
warheads are protected by a heatshield and parachute. They do also got control fins for steering =0D
towards their target. For damage see FF&S page 143.=0D

Hi y'all,

Happy thingy, you know, er... X-thingy, er, Christymasm, thingy, whatsit.

infection) while wearing a dress and pretending to be one of the wise men]

I would just like to point out that I agree with everyone, i.e.:

* YES * please people send in your characters, adventures, etc. to traveller
(I know you don't get anything for it and your name will only be in lights
for a few moments, but some of us really do _value_ your contributions).

* YES * please do continue technical discussions (except where they grow to
the length of the feudal technocracy thingy just before TML folded). Okay,
so the technicalities might be over some people's heads or not seem
immediately relevant, but I find such things are very good at preparing me
for the dread moment when a player asks "But why does it do that?". If
he/she is a professor of physics, then you can at least sound intelligent
when discussing it with them. If they're just a normal player, blind 'em
with your new-found science!

This isn't to tell you what to do, just to encourage a wider range of stuff
on the mailing list. Okay, so Christmas is a bit slow... but everyone ought
to be coming back afterwards with all the stuff they've been writing up over
the hols (in between drinks)! :-)

When I'm looking at the weapon list, there is this thinggy called "bulk".

What is it?
How do I use it?

(And there were a few people on this list designing Death Stars and Star
 Destroyers... how's it going?)

It is a value used to resolve initiative ties.

> How do I use it?

If the two combatants have the same initiative, take their agility and
subtract the weapon bulk. The higher agility (after adjusting for bulk)
goes first.

See Page 265 (in 1.1) First Column, under "Resolving Ties"

1) The mail gateway machine for that portion of Lotus is, pardon
my language but it's actually Jo's language, fucked up. "Top Men"
are working on the problem 8^) So he's still there (and probably
hopping mad that his email isn't working right), but contact will
probably remain intermittant for a little while longer.

2) If communication MUST be made with him, you can email me and
I can pass it on - I have a non-internet connection with the Dublin
division of Lotus (and it actually works 8^)...

3) Lotus Mainframe? WhatchootalkinboutWillis? 8^)

A while ago, someone asked for information on the old Imperium. I
suggest that you write to GDW, and ask for the Imperial Encyclopedia ($12).
